The height of the media pre-race has to be the annual Indy 500 fashion show for charity. Populated by the cream of Indianapolis' Ladies Who Lunch set, the show is chaired by three time Indy Champ Johnnie Rutherford and his wife. All the local lights come out in evening wear provided by a downtown department store. The fashion show raises money for charities, one of which aids the families of dead and wounded drivers. Creepy, but the star of the show was, of course, Sarah Fisher, who got a standing ovation when she came out in a ballroom gown while carrying her high heels, a tomboy on the cat walk.
