In companies with a history of more permissive speech — for example, lots and lots of sex chat rooms — leaders are often put into an awkward position, following policies that are openly and vigorously opposed by the majority of their users. While just as ruthless as any other, these CEOs need to tread with a lighter touch, accomplishing their goals through "accident" and conspiracy rather than directive and fiat.
