1973, CAMP DAVID. OP: QUAKER STATE

President Nixon, having seen the success of the Israeli military over the Arab states, and thinking of his own clever use of triangulation diplomacy (a technique wherein we pit rival powers against each other for our benefit), Nixon combined the two concepts into Op: Quaker State. Nixon planned to create several new religious nations like Israel, made up of his own fellow Quakers. By placing these intentionally divisive city-states in Latin America and Asia, Nixon could then broker power in the region against our older established foes. Kissinger dismissed the idea as "Quakker Bawwel Dipwomacy," and after consulting with a portrait of Millard Fillmore, Nixon bitterly tabled the idea.
