It's always painful to watch an art form become institutionalized, since it seems to suggest (usually correctly) that the art form in question is no longer vital or relevant to today's society; that it's a DEAD art form, to put it bluntly. This is particularly painful to diehard rock music fans, since to them rock was always supposed to be about "youth" and "rebellion." It's supposed to be AGAINST institutionalization!
Unfortunately, after four decades of all this youth and rebellion hype, all the poor shmucks who bought into this notion have painted themselves into a corner. How can you be AGAINST the EMP in principal yet feel outraged that none of your favorite bands' fliers are in it?
