There were still a few straggling protesters milling about (and I'm using the term "protesters" VERY loosely, since what had just occurred was little more than yer typical rock 'n' roll riot — along with some pepper spray and rubber bullets to give everyone present a lifetime's worth of bragging rights), and us old folks had to walk a mini-gauntlet through them, as they shouted some politically flavored epithets in our direction...



After one or two blocks of this nonsense the coast was suddenly, amazingly clear. Apparently the cops were off corralling the majority of hell-raisers in some other direction. Whew!

Once I got to the parking garage, I saw some poor guy herding his frazzled womenfolk into a rented limo. Once they were all safely tucked inside I made some joke like "That wasn't so bad, now was it?" He laughed a bit TOO hard, relieved at not having to wash pepper spray out of his mother-in-law's eyes.
