ABSOLUTELY GABULOUS!
Subject: Cut the girl gab, please
Hey Sucksters,
I read your site daily, and I enjoy your political and social observations
(the Hit and Runs) a hell of a lot more than your trite Fillers devoted
to feminine anxieties - like today's offering from Polly Esther.
Lately it seems like you're serving up this type of shit once or twice a
week. The worst part about it is your (obviously female) Filler author's
tendency to address the readership as "you," as in, "You wore attractively
cut clothes, tailored to accommodate any relatively minor figure flaws and
chosen in colors that nicely complemented your skin tone." If I want to be
addressed as a shallow, girlish, post-yuppie, mirror-watching, would-be
soccer mom, I'll direct my browser to Salon, understand?
Look, just keep the good satiric commentary flowing, and cut the hormonal
chick crap, OK? It's really stale, and it alienates at least half your
readers.

Ana: Let's see ... Shakespeare in Love? Nope.
Polly: Saving Private Ryan? Nope.
Ana: Rushmore? Nope.
Polly: Still Crazy? Nope.
Ana: Waking Ned Devine? Nope.
Polly: The Thin Red Line? Nope.
Ana: Gods and Monsters? Nope.
Polly: Affliction? Nope.
Ana: Oh wait ... Stepmom!
Polly: Fabulous!
Ana: Finally, a movie we shallow, girlish, post-yuppie, mirror-watching,
would-be soccer moms can really get behind!
Polly: Yeah! Cool!
Ana: OK, I've been wondering about something....
Polly: What?
Ana: To be a soccer mom, do you actually have to drive your kids to practice?
Polly: Um ... No. I think you can get a hired hand to do that.
Ana: Cool!
Polly: But you do have to give birth.
Ana: Ew! You're kidding me!
Polly: I'm serious.
Ana: I'm bored. Let's cut the girl gab and make social and political
observations.
Polly: Good idea.
Ana: OK.
Polly: Those shoes are rad.
Ana: Thanks!
Polly: Everyone's wearing those now.
Ana: I know. I love them.
Polly: It looks like they attract smudges really easily, though.
Ana: They do. It's a drag.
Polly: Have you tried Scotchguarding them?
Ana: No, but that's a really good idea.
Next week ... She taught me about thermonuclear dynamics, and I taught her
about tampons!
